Understanding Joshua lately is starting to get a little frustrating. Everything that has a "bread" consistency is referred to as toast. So, when he asks for toast, I have to ask him if he wants a waffle, a peanut butter sandwich, a slice of raisin bread, or if he does just want plain old regular toast. He is quite the opinionated little boy, so if we don't figure out what he is asking for, he gets really irritated, and THAT is not a fun situation to deal with. It must be hard to be an almost two year old sometimes. . . .

How did it get so late so soon? It's night before it's afternoon. December is here before it's June. My goodness how the time has flown. how did it get so late so soon? -Dr. Seuss

Use your digital camera and take a photo of 'toast', a 'sandwich','waffle', etc. Print them out and laminate them.
Punch a hole in one corner and secure the photo cards with a ring. Hand the ring on the fridge with a magnetic hook or keep it close by in a drawer, etc.
Next time he wants toast, show him the cards and allow him to choose from the photos. When he chooses "cracker", say "Great Job! Joshua wants CRACKERS!" When you give him the cracker, reinforce the photos with the object: "Here's your cracker Joshua! What a good boy!"
Less frustration for you both, and learning to boot.
This is a really good idea S'mee!
